Selection Guide

Choosing the Right Size

Space for Memorabilia

Selecting the appropriate memory box size involves understanding what will be displayed and the available wall space. Our boxes have a 2-inch interior depth, balancing visibility for printed materials and space for small memorabilia. Considerations include:

  • Visibility: Deeper boxes may hinder the visibility of items like photos.

  • Capacity: For example, an 8x10 photo in an 11x14 box leaves limited space for other items.

  • Maintenance: Smaller boxes are simpler for staff to update, especially in vacancies.

Location & Installation

It’s important to consider spatial needs when deciding where to place memory boxes:

  • Placement: Evaluate the intended wall space to accommodate the box dimensions and door mechanics.

  • Installation Style: Choose from In-Wall Recessed, Surface Mounted, Swing-Door, or Pull-Out Pane options. Each has unique benefits, such as the Recessed style’s suitability for new constructions and the minimal wall protrusion of Swing-Door and Pull-Out styles.

Sharing Options

Efficiency and space can be optimized by:

  • Shared Boxes: Using a partitioned box for two residents helps save space and cut costs. Our removable partition bar allows flexibility between single or shared use.

  • Dual Compartments: Some designs feature two separate compartments for individual displays, ideal for personalization.

Styles & Customization

We offer five memory box styles, each co-designed with professionals like interior designers and architects. Key features include:

  • Color & Finish: standard black and white, custom paint matching, and 7 stained finishes.

  • Security: Options for keyed units or hidden slide-access units, with staff-only access recommended for ease of maintenance.

  • Signage: Choose from ADA-compliant signage integrated into the front of the box or a protected signage slot behind the door pane, ideal for personalized resident information.

  • Shape & Size: visit our Custom Design Gallery to see examples of custom shapes and sizes.
